From enquiry to keys
How a date goes from pencilled to yours.

Ask about the date
The enquiry goes to the keeper, who answers from the diary in order — free, pencilled or taken, with alternatives if taken.

Walk the hall
A Saturday viewing or an arranged walk-round: rooms, kitchen, access and where everything lives.

Confirm in writing
A one-page hire letter states the rooms, hours, rate and rules. The date is yours when it is signed and the deposit paid.

The day itself
The keeper opens up, walks your suppliers in, and stays on call. Out by your booked hour; the deposit returns within the week.

Read the full exampleYes to both. Caterers get a kitchen walk-round before the day; a licensed bar needs its own licence, which most bar companies carry.
The date is held for you for one week and offered to nobody else. If we have not heard back after a week it quietly rubs out — nobody rings to pressure you.
The lane door, the hall floor and the accessible WC are level. The Reading Room is up one flight; for step-free ceremonies we set the hall instead.
Overruns bill by the half hour at the day-rate fraction, because the keeper resets the hall the same night. Book the late finish in advance if you suspect you will want it.
